We are just over a month into our COVID-19 quarantine at home. Just over a month with a new daily routine, habits, needs, frustrations, and joys. Just over a month with more available time to do with what we want. Unfortunately, over the course of a month my choices have turned to daily sleeping in, poor food choices, no physical activity, and not engaging in the Word each day. How come when my days are more structured with so many more things to do and think about, I am able to better take care of myself physically and spiritually than when I have the time to really focus on taking care of myself?
I was thinking about this last night when falling asleep, and pulled myself out of bed this morning to read Romans 7 and 8. Paul talks about the influence sin has over us and in our lives, and how to overcome it. How it lives in us and leads us to do what we know we don’t want to do, and leads us to not do what we know we do want to do. I encourage you to read these chapters yourself if you sometimes find yourself doing things that you know you don’t really want to do, and don’t know why you can’t stop.
We are turning the page on the past month and changing our habits and choices. I don’t know how long this period of time will last, but I do know that whether it is 2 more weeks or 2 more months, I need to keep my spiritual, physical, and mental health top priorities. :
